Past and Future dates

January 24, 1937, was the inaugural running of the Daytona 200.
1942 thruough 1946 the AMA cancelled the Daytona 200 for the war, but people still showed up for an “unofficial” party called Bike Week.
1960 was the last Daytona 200 to be held on the beach and road course.
1961 the race was moved to the Daytona International Speedway

1991 was the 50th Daytona Bike Week
March 2-11, 2007 was the 66th Daytona Bike Week.
February 29 to MARCH 9, 2008 will be the 67th.
Bike Week is held the first full week in March. It typically begins one week after the Daytona 500 ends.

If you are riding to Daytona from the Worcester, Massachusetts area and want to ride the highway all the way, this route is about 1220 miles:
I-290 west to the Mass Pike (I-90)
Mass Pike (I-90) west one exit to I-84 west
I-84 west to I-91 in Hartford
I-91 south to I-95 south toward New York
I-95 south through New York, across the George Washington Bridge, and to the New Jersey Turnpike.
New Jersey Turnpike south to the end at the Delaware border.
I-295 across the Delaware Memorial Bridge and through Delaware to I-95
I-95 south into Maryland and to the Harbor Tunnel (I-895) through Baltimore
I-895 south to its end at I-95
I-95 south around Washington DC, through Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia and into Florida
Daytona is about 120 miles south of the Georgia - Florida border.
Exit 261 is US-92 which brings you into the heart of Daytona, past the Race Track and to Daytona Beach.
